BOSS SE-70

Post by nonplus__ » Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:30 pm

Hi,

I'm in search of a power supply for the BOSS SE-70.
The original supply is the BOSS BRB-100, but i can't find one in Germany/Europe (230V).
On the back and in the manual it says "12V AC 1.5 A". Problem is, the Pedalboard AC only provides 1.25 A.
Is there any alternative to the original power supply?
Is the output of the Pedalboards 12V AC limited to 1.25 A even if I do not use any of the other ports?
What could happen if I just try it?

Thank you.

I would just give it a try if you already have a Pedal Power AC.

1. I doubt that the SE-70 actual current draw is exactly at the rated 1.5A max for the original power supply.
2. The Pedal Power AC output's current limit is not a hard cutoff.

Let us know how it goes!

Gave it a (short) try. It works.
The only thing is that the Pedal Power starts to hum if i power the SE-70 on. It's not loud, but noticeable if the environment is silent. It also hums if i use it with other devices, but then i can only hear it if i move my head next to it.

I'got the SE-70 used, with a non-original power supply (12V AC 1.5A) that started to get really warm and smell after ~1h.
Do I have to test it for a longer duration, to be sure the Pedal Power AC does not overheat? Or is the PP-AC protected to not overheat (if such protections exist)?

The Pedal Power AC outputs are protected. An Output will simply shut off if there is too big of a load on the output.
