Pedal power 2 plus and jam pedals

Post by Pierre stahlgren » Tue Jun 19, 2018 2:28 pm

Hello i want to check so i dont do anything stupid.
I live in Sweden (europe) and with pedal power 2 plus i want to connect these:
Jampedals wahcko + 9v dc 4 mA to 1-4
Jampedals Tubedreamer 88 9v dc 9 mA to 1-4
Jampedals fuzzphrase (germanium) 9v dc 3mA to SAG (Switch to off normal so i can lower voltage)
Jampedals retrovibe 9v dc 80 mA 1-4
Mxr reverb m300 9v dc 240 mA to 5-6
Xotic sp compressor 9v dc 5 mA to 1-4 or one of SAG at normal.

I guess this sounds ok. But i have 2 things i dont understand.
Fuzzphrase has positive ground on audio. Should i use normal cable?

And retrovibe has 9v dc but inside it ramps up to 15v. Still ok to use 1-4 Then ?

Thank you for making this pedal power with SAG. Sounds like a Dream come true :)

All specified pedals can be powered as you suggest and with the all black (standard polarity) cables supplied.

As for the Jampedals fuzzphrase... some devices (usually ones with germanium diodes/transistors) are engineered with what is called a positive ground circuit (not to be confused with the polarity of the power jack itself, which may be center positive or center negative).

Also/FYI, you should not daisy-chain power a device with a positive ground circuit device together with your standard type pedals (ie. typical Boss, MXR, Ibanez, etc...). Doing so will short-circuit the power supply and can be hazardous and/or damage your equipment. But of course, powering such pedals from the isolated Pedal Power outputs is fine.

And, as for the Retrovibe... yes simply power it with 9VDC (the 15V issue is merely a description of something its internal circuitry is doing and does not change the fact that it powers with 9VDC).

Hope this helps.

And Another Important questions, would it be dangerous to cover the pedal power with tweed cloth, could it overheat if i do so ?

Tweed, aye... yeah, sure. That should be fine!
