new findings about racks using gcx and pedal switchers...

Post by mibu » Wed Oct 14, 2009 10:20 am

hi guys!

working currently at a rack containing a gcx, gcp and a pedal swticher. the client complained about the gcp display being often garbled, and not being able to use the units until a few reboots.
after some extensive testing, I found the right way to use such a combination: first you have to power the rack including the pedas switcher(s) and only after this step power the gxc (that powers the gcp). the gcp needs to "see" all the midi units already powered. that's all...

True, in a multiple switcher setup all the secondary switchers should be powered up before powering up the Ground Control Pro. The Ground Control Pro sends a MIDI SysEx message that tells each switcher what number it is in line according to its position in the MIDI path.
