PX8 Set Up (Pedals in front / Pedal in Effects Loop)

Hello All!
First I'm new in the forum, so I hope I might find the solution I need for my issue.

Basically I'm looking for help in order to get my pedals working in front/back of the amp? I have read several articles, etc... about some pedals function better in front of the amp and some others works better in the effects loop. I think here is clear. I have tried my pedals in the AMP to determine where they work better and it looks like that I have to agreed with experts out there, as pedals works incredible awesome as they suggested, so; due to that fact is why I traded the PX8 in order to be able of controlling pedals in front of the pedalboard skipping the tap dancing.

About MY RIG
- Amp: Bogner Shiva 20TH Anniversary with a Bogner 2x12 closed back cab.

Pedalboard (without the PX8 and shown as Brand + Function):
- Xotic Effects Wah
- Kelley Compressor Pro
- MXR 10 Band EQ
- Pigtronix Gate Keeper
- Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808
- Providence Anadime Chorus
- Voodoo Lab Tremolo
- TC Electronic Flashback
- TC Electronic Vortex
- TC Electronic Helix

Then actual state (without the PX8) is:

- FRONT of the PreAmp: Compressor + Wah + Tubescreamer + Noise Gate. (The shiva head comes with a footswitch including channel switching, reverb and boost)
- AFTER the Preamp: Delay + Chorus + Flanger + Phaser + Tremolo + EQ.

All this is hooked up by a 4CM. :geek:

Based on this, my question will be: How will you guys suggest to use the PX8 to preserve the chain as it is right now?

Sorry, sorry, sorry for the long long long new topic and specially if this is already checked in the forum somewhere... at the end I know this is going to be an easy matter, making reading the long text here the most difficult thing at all.

I will appreciate all VOODOO Family help and I'm excited to ROCK soon!

Cheers,
P

If you left the Noise Gate and Wah out of the switcher you could then use PX-8 Loops 7 and 8 to control the front end effects, and use PX-8 Loops 1-6 to control the FX Loop effects.

1. Your guitar would go to the Wah, then to the Insert Return on the PX-8.
2. Loops 7 and 8 would control the Compressor and Tube screamer.
3. Out of the PX-8 would go to the Noise Gate, then to the Input of the amp.

4. The FX Send from the amp would go to the Input on the PX-8.
5. Loops 1-6 would control the Delay, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, and EQ.
6. The Insert Send on the PX-8 would go to the FX Return on the amp.

I hope that helps!

Jumping in on this if I may -
Just got the PX8 also and am looking at the same issue - how to preserve current sequence, or improve sequence.

Currently I have:

(Into Pre-Amp)
Boss TU-3 Tuner
Cry Baby Slash Wah
Fairfield Circuitry Accountant Compressor
Tone City Fuxx Fuzz
Ibanez TS9DX Tube Screamer
Tone City Sweet Cream
Tone City Kaffir Lime

(In effects Loop)
Tone City Tiny Spring Reverb
Tone City Tape Machine Delay
Tone City Angel Wing Chorus
Boss RC-30 Loop Station

Any advice welcome.....
Many Thanks Steve

As listed, not everything here can go into individual loops. PX-8 Plus has eight switchable loops. To start off I'd keep the Tuner and Wah, and possibly the Loop Station out of any PX-8 Loops. Are there any other pedals you wouldn't be using in the Loops?

These eight loops are split up into two series groups. One group has Six Loops and the other group has Two Loops. You can route either group to the front of the amp and have the other group in the FX Loop of the amp. The Insert between Loops 6 and 7 is the split between the two groups.

Alternatively, you can sacrifice a loop to act as an alternate point to split the groups. For instance, you could do the following:
1. Use Loops 1-4 for effects going to the front of the amp.
2. Leave Loop 5 On at all times and route Loop 5 Send to the front of the amp, and the amp's FX Send to Loop 5 Return.
3. Use Loops 6-8 for your FX Loop effects with PX-8 Plus Output to the amp's FX Return.

Let us know what you can!
