Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier using midi through Control Switcher into Line 6 Helix HX

I recently bought a Line 6 Helix HX and wanted to use the Midi capabilities. I have a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and bought a Control Switcher so that the HX can switch the different channels on my amp. Do I need a special cable for this, or will a 5 pin Midi work? I am having trouble getting it to switch channels. Not sure if I even have it set up correctly. Forgive me if this question has already been asked. Just trying to get a better sense of what I need to do or if I need to correct things. Thanks!!!

Hi there Bearded one,
I have a DualRectifier and use the RJM Mini Amp Gizmo with the RNN cable.

I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure that this cable will work with the Voodoo Labs Control Switcher. It has a relay box on it to supply power where needed. A normal Midi cable will not work as the amp requires power to switch.

Cheers

Hi there,
I’ve just had a look at the both of them, doesn’t look like the Control Switcher will work with the RNN cable. The RJM units have 7 pins and the Voodoo has 5 pins.

On the Triple Rectifiers we use the 1/4" External Switching jacks on the back of the amp. You should be able to get away with using only two switches for the three channels by connecting only Channels 1 and 3. This would leave you two more switches to control the Boost and EQ.

I hope that helps!
