PX-8 Plus Manual

Post by Hgwy407 » Wed Mar 15, 2017 10:12 am

I just received my Dingbat pedal board with the PX-8 Plus, however there was no manual for the PX-8 Plus included. I don't see it listed in the support/manuals section either. Is the manual available yet? I realize I can contact support, however I'm not sure if others may have the same request. Thank you.

The manual for the PX-8 is here http://www.voodoolab.com/manuals/PX8_manual.pdf

Hopefully this should get you going

Yea, the manual isn't actually up just yet for the PX-8 Plus... Sorry about that!

I can help with anything you may be having trouble with in the meantime. What would you like to know about your PX-8 Plus?

I am mostly curious about the midi programming of the unit. Thank you!

In that regard it does work much like the original PX-8... it can be set to listen to MIDI Program Changes and/or Control Changes. Program Change messages are used to recall Presets and Control Changes are used to control individual loops.

What MIDI Controller will you be using and what do you want it to do with the PX-8 Plus?

So this unit does not send midi independantly? I was hoping to be able to store my presets, and using the onboard midi, have the ability to send program changes to my Timefactor delay to change presets on my delay pedal. So i will have to have another controller to do that?

Oh, no problemo! No other controller is needed.

The Presets on PX-8 Plus will send a MIDI Program Change on MIDI Channel 1 for controlling your MIDI pedals... just like the original PX-8, except there are now 36 Presets rather than just three. There is no programming on the PX-8 Plus to make this happen other than to be in Preset Mode and recall a PX-8+ Preset.

When you recall a preset on the PX-8 Plus and it will send your TimeFactor a MIDI Program Change. You will then program the preset that comes up on TimeFactor to be the sound you want. Now whenever that PX-8 Plus Preset is recalled, the TimeFactor will be on the correct sound.

I hope that helps!

Last question, as I am about to wire up my board wth a George L system, I see the manual for the PX-8 has buttons 6-8 for presets whereas the Plus uses 1-4 for presets. Does this mean the reverse also holds true that buttons 6-8 are still toggle loops 6-8 when using in preset mode?

This is where things differ...

When in Preset Mode on PX-8+ you have Button #5 that toggles the function of Buttons A, B, C, and D. When the LED for Button 5 is Green, these buttons are your Presets and the Bank Up/Down Buttons select the 1-9 preset Bank. When the LED for Button 5 is Red, these buttons are your Instant Access Buttons and the Bank Up/Down buttons select the Low (loops 1-4) or High (loops 5-8) bank.

I hope that helps!
