Re: Mesa Boogie GCX slave and Axe FX wet/dry rig

Maybe I should have stated "if the Rear-Inputs can handle Line-Level". But I though that would already be clear due to your explainations.

Re: Mesa Boogie GCX slave and Axe FX wet/dry rig

The slave out is simply a line level output, tapped off the Output Transformer, and is intended to drive other line-level items, like FX Processors & power amps. It is what I use (on my Mesa Roadster) to drive my wet amps in a W/D/W setup.

If the Ax-FX can handle a line-level input you will be fine. Be careful though, the slave can be a really hot signal at stage volumes.

Re: Ground Control MIDI Switching Issue

Are you still able to control the third unit if it is the only one connected to the GC? How about if you swap the positions of the second and third unit?

Is it possible that a setting for the MIDI thru on the second unit could have been accidentally changed? Do these units have a MIDI out as well as the MIDI thru?

Re: GC Pro + Control Switcher + Mesa Roadster: channel switc

peepee wrote:I'm using a GCX, Control Switcher and GC Pro with a Mesa Roadster combo.
For a while, I've been using the GC Pro in 4 preset mode with each preset, 1-4, in each bank, selecting channels 1-4 of the amp, using the Control Switcher to change amp channels.
I've been thinking about changing things around so that the amp channels are selected by IA buttons 5-8, and setting up the presets differently so that I can freely change channels within each preset, rather than having to change presets to change amp channel.
However, I'm finding that when using the Control Switcher in this way, I can't set it up so that selecting the next channel deselects the previous one! For example, preset 1 selects amp channel 1, but if I want to select channel 3 within that preset by hitting IA button 7, it turns on channel 3 as well, instead of turning off channel one. Is there a way to set it up so that selecting a channel deselects the previous one, as with the supplied Mesa footswitch?
I believe that the Control Switcher needs PC (Program Change) messages to recall the channel switching behavior. When the Control Switcher is receiving CC (Control Change) messages, as it is doing with the IA buttons, it will respond as a simple toggle switch matrix.

From pg 10 of the online .pdf:
"PC messages are used to recall preset combinations of switch settings stored in
Control Switcher. This is commonly done with simple foot controllers that are not
capable of sending preset combinations of CC messages.

CC messages allow direct control of individual switches from your foot controller.
For example, this lets you use instant access buttons (IA) on your foot controller
to turn amp functions on and off."

Re: SIMPLE QUESTION: What do you use to label the GC Pro?

I made my labels in a graphics editor (CorelDRAW), printed them at my local Walgreens as an 8X10 picture, cut 'em out and stuck 'em on with 3M re-usable sticky tabs http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Restickabl ... pd_cp_hi_3

I labeled the Wah, Volume and Boost with a P-Touch.

The big colored squares make it easier for me to see on a dark stage.

Re: Hey there.. A few questions about GCX / GCP + a Roadste

mikhael47@gmail.com wrote:3) I plan on setting up my 4 preset buttons to handle the 4 channels in my amp + bring up a preset on the Gmajor2. Is there anyone else using IA's for Channel Switching on a Roadster or 3ch Dual Rec?
I use a Control Switcher for channel switching of my Roadster (which looks like half a GCX to the GCP) as I did not want to waste audio loops in my GCX.

I use all the IA buttons to switch in/out GCX Loops and effects in the G-Maj. All my channel switching is in my 4 presets. I have presets select amp channel & G-Major Patch, then use the IA buttons to improvise that specific preset.

For example, preset 1 is always my Clean tone (Roadster CH1, G-Major patch #1, G-Maj Chorus block(IA 5), GCX Loop #1(IA 1 (Dynacomp)). While I am in my clean patch I can control 8 effects through the IA buttons. Preset 3 is always my Distorted Rhythm tone (Roadster CH4 Modern, G-Major patch #4, all effects (IA) off, with instant "stomp box" control of 8 effects (GCX Loops & G-Major effect blocks). Preset 4 is always my Lead tone (Roadster CH3 Vintage, G-Maj patch 3 with delay (IA#7) and reverb (set in patch), GCX Loop #1 (IA1-Dynacomp), & GCX Loop#2 (IA2-BB Pre).

This gives me "one stomp" access to my four basic tone modes (Clean-Dirty-Heavy Rhythm-Lead) and allows improv with 8 effects through IA buttons.

The great thing about the GCP/GCX/Control Switcher is it's versitility. How you set it up depends on how you use the rig. I like to have my four basic "core tones" all set up and ready to go at the press of one button, with "Instant Access" to my effects to change the "flavor" of that core tone on the fly.

Re: GCP/GCX/POD 2.0

Where you place the POD (in front or in the loop) really depends on what YOU want from the POD. Either way if you plan to bypass the POD's effects while playing then put it in a GCX loop.

If you are phantom powering the GCP then connect the GCP MIDI OUT to the GCX MIDI (pedal) IN, then connect the CGX MIDI OUT to the POD MIDI IN.

As far as using IA buttons to control the POD, again this depends on what you want from the rig as well as what kind of control info the POD will support.

Re: GCX and Xotic BB+

txdean wrote: how do i connect an effect like the xotic bb+ to switch from channel a to channel b thru the gcx? is there a special cable needed?
After reading the BB+ manual it appears that this can not be done as there is no external control interface on the pedal to do what you ask. Because of this design in the pedal you will have to switch the A/B channels manually. The BB+ would be placed in a GCX loop like any other pedal.

Hope this helps.

Much appreciated.
What other gear do you plan to use with this setup and what are your goals for the rig? Are you planning to phantom power the GCP from the GCX?

With the limited info you give all I can tell you is to use MIDI cables to connect everything.

Hello,
Which Voodoo Lab product are you referring to as the "Foot Switcher".

Does your POD have a relay to do the channel switching on your Mini Recto?
