Re: PX-8 Plus with TC Electronic Plethora

I've not found anything that documents what MIDI Messages the Plethora responds to.

But I can tell you that the PX-8 Plus will send MIDI Program Change messages 1-36 on MIDI Channel 1... maybe there is a manual with the Plethora that states the MIDI specs?

Re: MIDI Out Not Working Help...

HMM... PX-8 Plus should always be sending Program Changes on MIDI Channel 1 with each preset, this is always on and cannot be changed. Do you have any other MIDI source to send to one of your pedals to ensure tey are responding on MIDI Channel 1?

Re: Rig Help (cc messages)

Your Volante and Amp1 need to be set to receive on unique MIDI Channels. It looks like the Amp1 might be fixed at using MIDI Channel 1 so I'd look to changing the MIDI Receive Channel on the Volante to Channel 2. In the Ground Control Pro you will name each device and assign it the same MIDI Channel as the device is set to receive... Since you seem to already have some stuff going I'd name Device #1 as the Volante, (but change the MIDI Channel to Channel 2 both on the Ground Control Pro and in the Volante), then name the Amp 1 as Device #2 and assign MIDI Channel 1. (this may all seem wacko but if you've already programmed presets to recall Volante sounds you'll be happy to not have to re-program all these presets.)
Further, you will need to set the Volante to use its MIDI Out as a MIDI thru so it will pass the messages thru to the Amp 1.

Look to the Device Name/channel section of the Ground Control Pro manual under Setup mode to see how to name each MIDI device you are controlling and set it's MIDI channel.

I hope that helps!

Re: GCX not communicating with GCP, no cable fault

If the GCX does not scroll the LEDs when first powered on then something is certainly wrong with this GCX. Test with the GCX powered off for at least 10 seconde, then power up... if it still does nothing at all then please feel free to give us a call or write to info@voodoolab.com to arrange for an inspection/repair on this GCX.

I hope that helps!

Re: Control Switcher help!

Ahh the plot thickens! I thought you had only the two Control Switchers going here.

Lets start fresh... First, what are all the Voodoo Lab / Digital Music Corp. controllers and Switcher that will be in this rig?

Also, what will be your preferred MIDI Cable connection path?
So far I believe you have the connections as Ground Control Pro -> HEX -> PX-8 -> Control Switcher#1 -> Control Switcher #2... the order they are connected will affect how they respond.

Note: The switchers all need to be powered up when the Ground Control Pro starts up so everything gets the configuration message sent from the Ground Control Pro after it scrolls thru the initial splash screen.

Re: Control Switcher help!

When mimicking a GCX, this will take one of the four available GCX locations in the Ground Control Pro.

Here is a link to the red button Control Switcher Manual... Control Switcher v2 (Red Buttons)

Re: Control Switcher help!

No problem to control two Control Switchers as a single GCX. The basic steps from factory fresh are as follows...
1. Set both Control Switchers to receive on MIDI Channel 16.
2. Set both Control Switchers to Enable Control Change messages.
3. On Control Switcher #1, set to respond to Control Change messages 80-83 (GCX Loops 1-4)
4. On Control Switcher #2, set to respond to Control Change messages 84-88 (GCX Loops 5-8)

There are two different models of Control Switcher one with Black Buttons and one with Red Buttons. The settings are slightly different for each model so be sure to follow the appropriate manual.

I hope that helps!

Re: GCP and BOSS FV-500L

The main problem of not being able to reach the full data value of 127 is because the 10K potentiometers are a bit too low for the Ground Control Pro and together they are pulling the reference voltage for the expression pedals circuit down too low. You can modify the Ground control Pro to accept these pots by lowering the value of R22 to be about 100Ω. However this will not fix the problem with the feel/taper, you may just want to use something with at least a 25K pot and maybe an audio taper.

I hope that helps!

Re: GCX LOOPS AND RJM PBC10

Unless the GCX is modified to have Stereo Loops, all the loops will be Mono. For your setup you will likely just use two Loops for each Stereo Device you want to switch.

I'll use GCX Loops 7 and 8 for an example, but you can use any two GCX Loops you want for the Intellifex:

1. PBC Left Output to GCX Loop 7 In.
2. PBC right Output to GCX Loop 8 In.
3. GCX Loop 7 Send to Intellifex Left Input.
4. GCX Loop 8 Send to Intellifex Right Input.
5. Intellifex Left Output to GCX Loop 7 Return.
6. Intellifex Right Output to GCX Loop 8 Return.
7. GCX Loop 7 Out to Power Amp Left Input.
8. GCX Loop 8 Out to Power Amp Right Input.

I hope that helps!
