Voodoo lab Px8+ does not save loops when pressing 1+8

hi all, as the title states
I am have a DMC 8 g3 , and a voodoo labs px 8 + wired by midi,
the px8+ is set to loop preset mode
DMC 8 g3 is set to E, the PX8+ is set to midi channel 5, when i change the banks on E, the px8+ 1-8 lights flicker, if I select a number, loop lights red,
If i change banks, the lit loop turns off.
so to save the manual states i need to press 1+8 all the lights will flicker, and the bank info should be fine.
however when i do... nothing saves, just 1 and 8 light up as if the loops have been turned on.
this is massively frustrating, what do i do? I fear as another has posted, I may have a faulty unit.
