The DC inlet jack depth on Dunlop Wah enclosures is such that only a "straight" i.e. non "right angle" connector must be used. The jack position can also be awkward for maintaining a good inductance relationship with the Audio Output jack position. So when possible and if needed I'll move add a parallel DC inlet.
The side mounted Blue LED's are to accommodate the player's rather large feet. The client wanted an LED indicator for the wah's status and be able to see it around his large boots. By side mounting the LED's and using the brushed metal of the Volume Pedal to reflect the LED the player can see a "halo" of light around his foot even if his boot is blocking the top surface entirely.
